What’s a Sludge Cup?

Simply put, a sludge cup is the cup that holds the water you wash your paint brushes in.

In my studio, as I’ve grown to collect them, sludge cups developed personalities. They sit beside me through piece after piece, collecting color, mistakes, and half-formed ideas. Some sludge cups are built tough and meant to travel, ready to get knocked around in the name of art and adventure. Others are a one-of-a-kind hand built treasure of an experience to use, reminding me daily of the love I have not only for making art, but the supplies that make it possible and the long history of innovation that has gone into making the experience I get to have.

Sludge Cup Studios is named for celebrating the overlooked tools, the mess, the experiments, and the odd little characters that stick with you along the way.
